Surf's up

My son is in surf camp all week. I am lucky enough to live five minutes from the beach and my kids are basically beach bums all summer! If I freaked out about every bit of sand that comes into my house, I'd end up a nut case... Whether you enjoy living a relaxed lifestyle in your home during the summer months or your year round home has this vibe, there is something to be said for the calming, carefree simplicity of a "surf shack". While I tend to steer clear of thematic design, I do think a gorgeous surf board or two in a room feels more like sculpture and they look pretty cool too. Take a peek at some sophisticated but laid back beach abodes and life style shots.

Shelter Loves..

Good day Friday!! Why does the summer feel more hectic than the other seasons? Oh right, when my kids aren't in camp, they and a few more from the neighborhood are always at my house! I actually do love that they hang out here but it makes for a busy life (and messy crib). I just sat down and poured myself a chilled glass of wine. Here are my loves this week:

1. I have a thing for a. this particular shade of blue and b. anything with a scalloped edge..awnings, bedding, stationery, sleeves..you get the idea.
2. Hells yes. There are NO guarantees in life, love your friends and family hard and HUG them often.
3. Okay, this is a pretty cool book. Style is such a personal thing and I adore that every person has their own sense of it! (or not)
4. How fun are these rings? Apparently they are from Paris. I am hoping they still have some in stock. Source
5. This color again!! I am ordering this amazing dress for a fun little photo shoot I have coming up. J.Crew is hosting a 25% off their entire site today. Enter code: FRIDAY.

CHEERS, THANKS FOR STOPPING BY FOR SOME INSPO!!

Cottage Love #58

It's not often that I share two home tours in one week but I rarely come cottage style homes on the internet these days. In our world of "super size me", it is a treat to discover a smaller home that packs a beautiful punch. This charming cape fits that bill. The mix of white, lucite and brass create a feminine palette for this mother and her three daughters.(although my kiddos would have this place sticky and messy in a heartbeat) Images via: Elle Decor. This stair case and hand rail are fabulous!

Yes, please on this headboard!!

Love the look

Hello and happy hump day! I have not given up on July but the last week has been wet and cool with even cooler evenings. We are almost transitioning into August, which can be touch and go weather wise. I'm heading out to a friend's for casual cocktails by the water and I'll be wearing an outfit similar to this one! Bonsoir!

Southern Living idea house

I recently received the August issue of Southern Living and was happy to kick back and enjoy the inspiration of the 2017 Southern Living Idea Home. This year's home is located off the beaten path in, Bald Head Island, NC. I am always excited to see what Lindsey Coral Harper comes up with. I appreciate her attention to detail and modern twists on classic design. This place is all kinds of cohesive. Enjoy!! I am due for a trip down south to the Carolinas. I have a few connections there and would love to visit the beaches and of course, Charleston. You can purchase plans for the house and see the rest of the details, information and sources here.  The architecture is by Eric Moser. The photos are by Laurey W. Glenn.

Shelter Loves

Happy Friday hunnies!!! I hope you had a great week.Things are great and busy around here! Did I mention I love the summer? My new website is in the works!! I can't wait to share some fresh projects with y'all!! Here is what I'm adoring on this hot summery day! xoxoxo

1. Well not for today but blazers with cropped fringe jeans for Fall. I know people seem to think cropped jeans make your legs look short but beg to differ. I think they are flattering and fun, especially with flats!!
2. Nordstrom's sale is in full swing. There are SO many great deals. I LOVE this J.Crew necklace. It needs to live at my house.
3. Fresh, white textural rooms are pretty, pretty and on my radar. Any takers?
4. I will own a vintage convertible someday! Do you agree, Matty?
5. YES!! I've been doing this all summer.

Love the look - My Fall wish list from the Nordstrom 2017 Anni sale

The 2017 Nordstrom Anniversary sale is in full swing and it open to the public tomorrow! I posted my favorite closet staples last week and today for my "love the look" post I'm sharing my personal wish list! I recently had someone ask me what I thought about the capsule wardrobe trend. It's a cool concept but I'm too much of a clothing/accessory and jewelry lover to be that disciplined. I do however, believe in refining your closet. As you know I'm slightly obsessed with french fashion and their uncanny ability to mix and match a refined selection of pieces. I instead, aim to take that approach to dressing. See what I've done here with my picks? Each of these pieces can be worn together in different ways to create an array of outfits! Every piece coordinates...be sure to scoop them up while they are available. A number of last week's picks have sold out!!

1. Hunter boot - I like the back detail update on these.
2. Classic oversized cubic zirconia diamond earrings - these are a steal.
3. Belle sleeve sweater.
4. AllSaints bag. This is pretty and a great price!
5. Kate Spade watch
6. long Leith cardigan
7. Ruffle neck tee. Wear this alone or layer it under sweaters and vests.
8. Fitted black boot with a narrow shaft. This version is by Sam Edelman. I have good luck with their shoes.
9. I already own these faux leather leggings. I layer them with sweaters and blazers! (and I did not get them on sale!) They are a pretty good leather knock off.
10. Rag and Bone are still my go to jean brand.
11. These sunnies Burberry and very Jackie O., you really can't go wrong.
12. I like the asymmetrical zip on this down puffer coat. Boston gets cold quickly. This short version is perfect for Fall and the 100 soccer games I'll be attending!

By the Sea

I signed my son up for surf camp today. My kids both love the ocean, skimboarding and swimming. We are lucky enough to have the coolest little surf shop here in town. Besides balancing work, my family is all about a casual lifestyle during the summer. It includes sandy feet, the surf, beaching it, boating and fun with family and friends.

My interior design and fashion sense often leans towards (especially for me) Malibu meets Nantucket. So I was thrilled to see the modern but organic Venice beach home of high fashion swim designer Marysia Dobrzanska Reeves of Marysia Swim. You can find her fabulous home in this month's issue of Arch. Digest. Marysia had the help of designer Martha Mulholland. The duo sourced most of the home's furniture, lighting and accessories locally. The LA area is a designer's dream! (lucky them). I like the organic mix and I especially loved the kid spaces for her children.

Here is a peek at some of Marysia's designs:
