TGIF - Is all I've got right about now. I'm thrilled to be blogging, I've missed it this week. I also just poured myself a glass of cold wine. I sent my last client email for the day and only have a couple things left on my to do list for today. All my new projects are very inspirational, here's what is on my mind..xx

1. I am in throws of several kitchen designs, I am adoring an open plan and large windows over the sink. #kitchengoals

Mantel design

My apologies for the radio silence, between work and my kiddos, life has been insane! This week I've been working on two mantel designs, one will include a television above (only choice) and the other is simple and on the small side. I find clean and refined is usually the best solution for a timeless design. Here are some of my current favorites that include: recessed television options, incorporating surrounding millwork and shelving or just clean simplicity. Cheers! Happy hump day, y'all!

This is gorgeous both from a design and execution standpoint.

A stone option

This suits a smaller room

Well proportioned fireplace surround that includes the television

Shelter Loves

I was up with the birds to get my son off to a soccer tourney today! He was thrilled, nothing makes me happier than to share in my kid's excitement when they find something they are passionate about. I figured while I was at it, I may as well write up Friday's missed blog post. I've been off the charts busy but only with GREAT things! I have a number of projects under way and luckily, I am LOVING all of them. Here is what I have up my sleeve and in my "love" folder this week! Have a fabulous weekend!! xx

1. I've been all about chic but easy, comfortable dresses this fall! (and lovely shades of blue)
2. YES, YES, YES!!! Insecurity is the root of most negativity, become more aware of what is really worth your energy.
3. It seems I'm drawn to either large statement earrings or tiny sophisticated ones. I wear both! These are adorable and on sale. Don't miss Nordstrom's Anniversary sale!
4. I love vintage, classic cars with beautiful lines.
5. I've been designing mudrooms lately, these shoe bins are great for smaller, clean shoes. I also suggest for a boot tray for muddy and wet shoes. I'm also a big proponent of book storage!!
6. Interesting hardware can make a huge impact!
7. The summer slide. Find these here

Jump in!

Hello, hello! I'm back from my mini-vacay. July always goes too fast. The warm weather is here to stay (for now) and it has me thinking about dreamy pools and lazy days by the sea. I hope to have a pool someday and if I do, I'll be sure it blends beautifully with the surrounding landscape. Cheers to a great week.

Beachy-keen

Laura Gabe's Rowayton home has the perfect mix of art, antiques and a casual coastal vibe. Together with friend, Laura Jayson they started El Co a design, consulting and development business. They also rent out their vintage caravan bar (see photo below) for parties and weddings. Here are their tips for entertaining, just in time for summer. Happy July! Read more details about this beautiful home here. Images via Domino.

Entertaining, El Co–Style
Craft a Signature Cocktail
“Coming up with the names is half the fun,” says Grabe, who dubbed one jalapeño tequila concoction Endless Bummer to toast the end of the season at a Labor Day block party.
Music, Music, Music
“A mix of current hits and classics—anything from Laura Branigan’s ‘Gloria’ to Taylor Swift. Rihanna is always a good idea, too,” suggests Grabe.
Set the Mood
Style the area accordingly—threading firefly lights between the trees to give off a summer holiday glow or serving Rhubarb Fizz in vintage boat barware. “Use seasonal flowers and greenery to bring it all home,” says Grabe.
Hire Funny Bartenders
“They can keep the party going,” Grabe notes. Mise en place is also essential, so do all the prep work for garnishes beforehand—infuse the tequila, squeeze the limes, stack the glasses.

The playroom has a bohemian look, with layered mudcloth pillows and washed out wood work.
